Katherine Johnson, one of the three women depicted in the movie <Hidden Figures>, recently passed away at the age of 101.
Before electronic computers, complex mathematical calculations were done manually. During her 30 years at NASA, Katherine Johnson, a prolific mathematician, had made several milestones. She had made important calculations that allowed the Apollo 11 lunar lander to sync with the moon-orbiting service module to get the astronauts back on Earth. |
